History of the St. Mary's Girls'

- Vellore, the Fort City became fortunate city by the arrival
of Salesian missionaries who are the strong followers of the
ideals of St. Don Bosco and St.Mary Mazzarello.
- ISisters of Don Bosco started St. Mary's Elementary
School on first friday of June 1928 for the poor and neglected
children of the locality.
- It grew under the wise direction of
St. Teresa Balestra one among the six pioneers, who
courageously launched into the new mission.
- Passion for spreading the Good News of Christ, paved
the way to run the school according to the preventive system
of Don Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello through Reason,
Religion and Loving kindness.
- By the tireless effort of the Salesian sisters, the
Elementary school slowly bloomed into High school in 1944,
Higher Secondary School in 1998 which spreads its fragrance
all over the world.
- The children below the poverty line are
embraced by the tender care of the sisters through their
services in Schools, Orphanage, Oratory, with the help of
Co-operators, Past Pupils, Vides and Educating Community.
- Children are trained for a modern democracy to build
up the values of Human dignity and equality.
- Don Bosco's word,"God sees me" helps them to live in the presence of God and
to avoid evil They are moulded morally for a better future.
- Above
all to focus their attention on God and country
